Features of our custom caravan & trailer doors
Basically, you can design your own custom door. We start with a basic model made from aluminium and composite panels. The two available colours are black or white, but you can have all black or all white, even a black frame with a white body or vice versa. Again, the basic model comes with square corners but you can order rounded corners as a special option for your door.
The dimensions of your door are limitless, you simply need to send us the width and height required. You can also decide whether you want a sliding or fixed window (or a solid door with no window). If you want a window, you can also opt to have flyscreen and tints installed. Then there’s the size of the windows, for example ¼ or ½ of the door length. Not forgetting that the windows can be made of acrylic, polycarbonate or glass.
The trailer door lock has both a keyed entry and a deadbolt for added security. It also can be manually overridden if someone has locked the door from the outside. This is a great feature as it prevents anyone from being locked inside your caravan or trailer. The doors can also be manufactured for right or left entry with the heavy duty piano hinge on the appropriate side of the door.

How to select the right custom trailer doors for your project
Our custom trailer doors can be manufactured to your exact specifications. So if you are designing a new caravan or trailer or renovating your current vehicle, your first step is decide on the size of the door you require. Once you have the size of the door, then you need to make sure that this is equal to the cut out size that we’ll need to manufacture your new door. The correct size door will fit into your cut out perfectly.
Options for the windows
Next, you need to decide whether you want windows or not and if so, how big do you want them? Customers usually want two windows, side by side, in their door. The size of these windows depends on how much privacy you want inside your caravan or trailer. The usual length of these windows is ¼ or a ½ of the door length. Your next decision is whether you want fixed or sliding windows. Many customers want fixed windows, but since the sliding windows allow a breeze to flow into your caravan or trailer, this is a good option.
The windows can be manufactured from acrylic, polycarbonate or glass. Polycarbonate is stronger than acrylic, which means that acrylic can be chipped more easily than polycarbonate. Acrylic can, however, be polished to restore its clarity, while polycarbonate cannot. Both of these materials are lighter and much stronger than glass, so are often the more popular choice. The majority of our customers actually ask for polycarbonate windows to be installed in their custom trailer doors, but the choice will depend on your requirements.
Next, you need to decide whether you want these windows tinted or not. It’s often a good idea to have the windows tinted, as this increases your privacy, reduces glare and protects your furnishings from fading. You can select either a light or dark grey tint. If you want sliding windows then you also need to decide whether or not you want fly screen installed. Fly screen is a good choice as it prevents flies, mossies and other flying critters from entering your vehicle.
Apart from the windows, the other main choices you need to make are the colour of the frame and body of the door, as well as whether you need a right or left hand opening.
Standard AJPM doors
If you don’t want one of our custom trailer doors, then one of our other standard doors might be suitable for your project. These options are the LCI 1000 Series RV Door with no fly screen or the LCI 8000 Series RV Door.
LCI 1000 Series RV Doors
This door is made from white fibreglass and has a heavy duty piano hinge running the full length of the door. It doesn’t have a window or any fly screen and can be used as an internal door in RVs or both internal and external doors in caravans, horse floats and trailers. If you want to install this as an external door in your RV, then we need to change the lock from a generic caravan lock to a burst proof lock to fulfill our legal obligations. This door can be used for both right hand and left hand access, you just need to flip it over to change the orientation.
LCI 8000 Series RV Doors
These doors are designed with fixed windows made from toughened glass with a dark grey tint and a fly screen door. You can select between left and right opening doors and square or rounded corners. This is a premium quality door and is ideal for caravans, RVs, trailers and horse floats.
