Trailer windows are an essential component in horse floats, but far too often, they are either forgotten or ignored. In a way, it’s understandable, because you’re often more focused on other important factors of the horse float, such as its height, loading angle and suspension style. However, whilst the windows in a horse float might not be your main priority, to your horse, they are one of the most important features!
Windows let in light and a lovely fresh breeze, helping your horse to settle quickly into the trailer and not feel as though he or she is locked into a dark cave. You already know that horses don’t like tight spaces, so adding a large window that’s practical and functional can make a huge difference to the comfort of your horse. Now that you have turned your attention to the windows in your horse trailer, how do you decide which windows are best for your float?
Problems with generic horse trailer windows
With so many different brands of horse trailers on the market, there are no standard sizes, so it can be difficult finding the right type and size of windows for your trailer. Many of these are sliding windows with built-in fly screens that often leak in heavy rain and are difficult to open and close, because the latch is located at the top of the window. These trailer windows are often too small for practical use and don’t let in a lot of light and fresh air for your horse.

Fixed windows: Our windows can be manufactured from acrylic, polycarbonate or toughened safety glass (ADR compliant) and can be curved or flat (curved windows are only available in polycarbonate). You can choose the colour of the tint and the frame (anodised or powder coated),as well as the angles of the windows, either round or mitred.
Sliding windows: One of the biggest positives with our sliding trailer windows is that they glide beautifully and don’t stick. Features of our sliding windows include an optional internal trim, durable powder coated aluminium construction, easy to reach security locks, drain holes to prevent rainwater entering the float, superior flocking for easy sliding, and UV resistant seals. We can also fit flyscreen to these windows and they are available in acrylic, polycarbonate or toughened safety glass.
